  3. Internet Research Task Force (IRTF)

  6. The research groups of the IRTF are oriented towards longer term
  7. Internet research issues.  The research groups tend to be small (that
  8. is, about 10 to 20 people), and to have consistent membership.  The
  9. results of the research groups tend to be experiments in new protocol
  10. ideas, new applications, and new approaches.  Any results of reserach
  11. groups that are appropriate for widespread use in the Internet are
  12. submitted to the normal IETF standards process.  Many of the
  13. participants in the research groups are also active in the computer
  14. science research community and there is a healthy interaction between
  15. the work in the research groups and work in other venues (such as ACM
  16. SIGCOMM).
